Danish Shot Putter Olsen rocks in dancing shoes

Former European Indoor champion and Olympic bronze medallist Shot Putter Joachim Olsen of Denmark of late has stepped into new shoes and is turning out to be as popular as he been as an athlete.
The 31-year-old is now making news for his dancing skills and after winning the Danish dancing competition Vild med dans (Wild with dancing) his popularity has hit a crescendo.

Such has been the popularity of Olsen and his dancing partner Mette that Danish broadcasters TV2 started a new reality show named ‘Who can beat Joachim and Mette'.

The programme included six prime time shows every Friday, where the duo was challenged by a new couple in different activities, intellectual, practical and others.

The deal was if the Olsen and Mette won all six contests, they would receive 200000 Danish crowns (25 000 EUR). If the challenger won, he/she would receive 100000 DKK.

The duo travelled around the country giving performances at shows, supermarkets. Unfortunately they lost in the sixth and last encounter.

Joachim Olsen continues to be among world's leading shot putters.

With ten straight international finals, Joachim holds the longest string of appearances in finals at Olympic, World and European Championships among throwers.

Olsen was the flag bearer for Denmark at the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games.
